Quartz sand is a type of quartz produced by crushing quartzite, a hard and chemically stable silicate mineral. In nature, quartzite exists as quartz sandstone, quartz shale, and vein quartz. Quartz sand appears milky white or colorless translucent with a Mohs hardness of 7, making it an important industrial raw material.
Through various processing techniques in sand washing plants, such as using sand washers, quartz sand can be processed into products for diverse applications across industries.

Five Main Types of Quartz Sand
Industrially, quartz sand is classified into the following five types based on purity and use:
Composition: SiO2 ≥ 90-99%, Fe2O3 ≤ 0.06-0.02%
Refractory Temperature: 1750°C
Production Process: Made from natural quartz ore through crushing, washing, drying, and secondary screening
Main Uses: Metallurgy, silicon carbide, glass, enamel, cast steel, water filtration, foam alkali, and sandblasting industries
Composition: SiO2 ≥ 99-99.6%, Fe2O3 ≤ 0.03-0.016%
Production Process: Processed from selected high-quality ore with complex techniques; particle size range 2-2500 mesh; appearance white or crystalline
Main Uses: High-grade glass, glass products, refractory materials, smelting stones, precision casting, grinding wheel materials, etc.
Composition: SiO2 ≥ 99.5-99.9%, Fe2O3 ≤ 0.001%
Production Process: Carefully selected and finely processed from high-quality natural quartz; particle size range 0.005-1mm
Main Uses: Glass manufacturing, refractory materials, ferrosilicon smelting, metallurgical flux, ceramics, grinding materials, cast molding sand; in construction, used for acid-resistant concrete and mortar
Properties: Excellent thermal stability, high purity, stable chemical properties, uniform particle size distribution, near-zero thermal expansion coefficient
Production Process: Oxidized using capacitance method, then processed and screened by mechanical equipment
Main Uses: Filler in paints, coatings, and other chemical industries; raw material for epoxy resin casting, electronic sealing materials, casting materials, refractories, ceramics, and glass industries
5. Silica Flour
Composition: Fineness less than 0.001mm, accounting for over 80%; average particle size 0.1-0.3μm
Production Process: Processed from natural quartz; particle size range 200 to 10,000 mesh
Main Uses: Concrete and refractory materials, adhesives and sealants, electronics industry, plastics and modified resins, paints and coatings, rubber materials, tires and rubber products, significantly enhaning material performance
