Screening fine particles (typically below 3 mm) is one of the most challenging tasks in mineral processing. Polyurethane screen panels are generally the best choice for most fine screening applications because they offer apertures as fine as 43 microns, service life 10–20× longer than woven wire, and anti-blinding tapered apertures that prevent pegging. Woven wire remains a cost-effective option for dry, clean materials where precision is critical and abrasion is low. The key selection factors are: aperture size (determines cut point), aperture shape (square for precision, slotted for capacity), anti-blinding design (tapered apertures for wet/sticky materials), and deck configuration (multi-deck for multiple product sizes). For most fine screening operations, polyurethane delivers the best balance of performance, wear life, and total cost of ownership.
