During conventional filtration, the feed pump forces slurry into the chamber and liquid passes through the filter cloth. As resistance increases, filtration gradually slows.

A membrane squeeze stage allows additional mechanical pressure to be applied directly to the formed cake.

The actual performance depends on slurry characteristics, cake compressibility, feed pressure, squeeze pressure and filtration cycle design.

One of the main advantages of a replaceable membrane plate is that the flexible diaphragm and supporting plate can be serviced independently.

When the rubber membrane becomes worn due to repeated flexing, abrasive slurry or chemical exposure, the membrane can be replaced while retaining the main plate body where the design permits.

This can significantly reduce lifecycle cost compared with replacing the complete plate assembly.

The replaceable design is particularly suitable for plants where filter presses operate continuously and maintenance shutdown time must be minimized.
