Recently, a significant strategic cooperation agreement was signed between Jinnan Iron and Steel Group and Metso at Metso's China R&D Center in Changsha, Hunan. Zhang Tianfu, President of Jinnan Iron and Steel Group, and Wen Yangzhi, Vice President of Finance, Administration, and Business Development of Metso Greater China, represented the two sides in signing the agreement. As part of the agreement, Metso will supply key process equipment for Jinnan Iron and Steel Group's iron ore concentrator project in Sohar, a port city approximately 200 kilometers north of Muscat, Oman's capital. With a designed annual capacity of 12.6 million tons of high-grade iron concentrate and scheduled for commissioning in 2027, the project will strengthen Oman's position in the global direct reduced iron (DR) grade iron ore market. Metso's supply includes multiple Vertimill® VTM-4500 vertical mills with metal liners, ball mills, HRT high-efficiency thickeners, Larox® FFP3512 filter presses, and a comprehensive slurry pump set, many of which are from the Metso Plus product portfolio.
