Material transfer points are among the most important areas to consider when designing a mining dust suppression system. When bulk material falls from one conveyor to another or enters a hopper, the impact and air displacement can cause fine particles to become airborne. Our Water Spray Dust Suppression System is designed specifically for these challenging locations.
The system uses strategically positioned spray nozzles to introduce controlled water into the dust generation zone. The objective is to encourage airborne particles to combine with water droplets and settle back into the material flow.
Nozzle arrangement is normally determined according to the transfer chute design, belt width, material flow rate, drop height, and available installation space. The system can use several nozzle types to achieve different spray patterns and coverage areas. Filters can be installed upstream of the nozzles to reduce the risk of blockage caused by suspended particles in the water supply.
For larger plants, individual transfer points can be divided into separate spray zones. Each zone can then be controlled independently according to conveyor operation. This approach allows the system to respond to actual production requirements instead of continuously spraying water throughout the plant.
The equipment is suitable for coal, ore, limestone, aggregates, sand, and other dry bulk materials. It can be installed in new plants or retrofitted to existing conveyor systems. With the correct combination of nozzle type, pressure, flow rate, and installation position, the system provides a practical approach to managing dust around high-impact transfer areas.

For transfer points and conveyors, spray placement is especially important. Sprays should be directed toward the material or dust source rather than unnecessarily wetting the belt or surrounding equipment. Excessive water can contribute to carryback, chute blockage or increased material moisture, while insufficient moisture may leave airborne dust uncontrolled.
