Product Information

HUATAO Cross Belt Magnetic Separator for Recycling provides automatic ferrous metal separation from mixed bulk materials transported on conveyor systems. It is suitable for municipal solid waste, construction and demolition waste, wood waste, shredded materials, biomass and other recycling streams containing unwanted iron or recoverable ferrous metal. The suspended magnetic system attracts steel objects from the moving material, while the self-cleaning cross belt transports captured metal to the side for continuous automatic discharge. This process can improve material cleanliness, recover valuable ferrous fractions and protect shredders, crushers and downstream processing equipment. HUATAO offers customized magnetic separator configurations based on material characteristics, conveyor width, belt speed, burden depth, throughput and installation conditions.

How Does a Cross Belt Magnet Work?

The separator is normally installed perpendicular to the main conveyor belt.

When bulk material enters the magnetic field, ferrous objects such as bolts, nails, steel wire, rebar, tools and machinery fragments are attracted upward toward the magnet.

A heavy-duty cleaning belt continuously travels around the magnetic assembly. Cleats on the belt transport captured metal toward the side of the conveyor.

Once the metal moves beyond the effective magnetic field, it is automatically discharged.

This design enables continuous tramp iron removal without stopping the main conveyor.
